What is The Virtual Tabletop?

The Virtual Tabletop is a JDR Ninja tool, free in its basic version, for rolling 3D dice together. The person who creates the table (the host) sends the table link to the other participants. Each participant rolls their dice there: the roll appears for everyone, with its formula and total, and is added to the table's log. There is no map and no token, only dice, to use during a voice call or alongside your other game tools.

No account needed for guests

Your guests have no account to create and no software to install: the link is enough. Only the host needs a JDR Ninja account.

Dice in everyone's own colors

Each participant picks the colors of their dice: on the board and in the log, you can see at a glance who rolled what.

The host stays in control

The host can lock the table, protect it with a password, remove a participant or close it at any time.

What it looks like

The same table with three participants, seen during the game, when a guest arrives, then with the Table menu opened by the host.

The table mid-game

The dice roll in the middle of the screen, on the board. The log, beside it, shows the table's latest rolls.

A guest arrives

The guest enters their name, then picks the die color and the number color while watching the preview. If the table has a password, they also have to enter it.

A guest's arrival screen: the name field, the dice color choice with a preview, and the button to join the table.

The Table menu

Anyone can copy the table link from it to invite someone. The host also finds the table settings and the OBS overlay there.

Frequently asked questions

Do my guests need to create an account?
No, the table link is enough. Only the host, the person who creates the table, needs a JDR Ninja account.
How many participants, and for how long?
In the free version, a table holds up to 4 participants and stays open for 3 hours at most. With a subscription (Gobelin Voyageur tier or above), it holds up to 10 participants and stays open for 10 hours at most.
Can I show my table's dice rolls on my stream?
Yes, if you support JDR Ninja on Patreon at the Mimique de Donjon tier or above. In the Table menu, choose “OBS overlay…”, enable the overlay and copy its link, then add it in OBS as a Browser source: every roll at the table appears live, on a transparent background.

Create your first table

The free version lets you open a table with up to 4 participants, for up to 3 hours. Supporting on Patreon raises these limits and, from the Mimique de Donjon tier up, gives access to an OBS overlay for your stream.
