In short

To stream a tabletop RPG you need OBS, a virtual tabletop or a camera pointed at the table, and a way to show the dice rolls to your viewers. JDR Ninja gives you an OBS overlay that shows the rolls made from Twitch chat (free) or from Foundry VTT, a shared dice table that can also appear in OBS, and a Twitch extension that presents your campaign.

    The JDR Ninja module relays your Foundry table's public rolls to the overlay. A chat command can also draw a result from a roll table in your world.

    A Stream Deck plugin will send a roll to the overlay from a key, with a subscription. It is not published yet.

Your virtual tabletop on stream

OBS captures your virtual tabletop's window like any other app's. What changes from one tabletop to the next is how the rolls reach the overlay.

Roll20, Owlbear Rodeo and other tabletops

The overlay does not receive their rolls directly, but Twitch chat commands and the shared dice table work with any tabletop, whether you play online or around a real table in front of a camera.

How do I stream a D&D game on Twitch?
With OBS Studio: a scene that captures your virtual tabletop or the camera pointed at your table, your voice chat, and the dice overlay added as a browser source.
Is there a free dice overlay for Twitch?
Yes: the JDR Ninja dice overlay is free with Twitch chat commands, and it shows the real rolls of your game. Rolls sent from Foundry VTT need a subscription.
How do I show dice rolls on stream?
Add your overlay's address as an OBS browser source: each roll appears as animated dice on a transparent background.
Why is my OBS browser source not showing?
Paste the full address, including the part after the #, and keep the background transparent. If nothing appears, click “Refresh cache of current page” in the source's properties.
Can I show my Foundry VTT rolls on stream?
Yes: OBS captures the Foundry window, and the JDR Ninja module also sends your table's public rolls to the overlay, in step with Dice So Nice. Live rolls from Foundry need a subscription.
Does it work with Roll20 or Owlbear Rodeo?
Not directly: the overlay receives Foundry rolls only, but Twitch chat commands and the shared dice table work with any tabletop.
Can Twitch chat roll dice with a command?
Yes: your viewers type the commands you create, each tied to a roll you defined, so they never choose the dice.
Is there a Twitch extension that shows character sheets?
Yes: the Atlas Twitch extension, linked to your campaign, shows the characters' sheets (compatible with D&D 5e, Pathfinder 2e, Starfinder 2e, The One Ring 2e and Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 4e), its arcs and its plot hooks. Character sheets are available from the Mimique de Donjon tier.
